My Mother's Day torte that Joe decorated at the mall for me! Posted by Picasa

I was left with one son on Mother's Day since Sam was on his way to Vienna. All I wanted was to ride my bike to the English Gardens and have a picnic. However, it is May and it is FREEZING AND RAINY outside, so my lovely son made a picnic in the house for me!  Posted by Picasa

Sam had just returned late the night before from a tennis tournament in Zurich only to have to arise early to leave on his 5 day school bike trip from Passau to Vienna along the Danube. The weather was cold and rainy and Sam was not looking forward to it. Posted by Picasa

If you look carefully you can see what we have described as a huge shower curtain covering part of St. Peter's Cathedral. It was quite nice of London to at least paint the shower curtain with a faux finish of the actual architecture! Posted by Picasa

Everywhere we go, there is scaffolding. . .here at Trafalgar the famous lions are covered too. We joke about it now. . .when we see scaffolding, Robin says he called and asked for it especially for us! Posted by Picasa

Here I am in front of Westminster Abbey which is mostly a graveyard inside a church. . .it's full of the tombs of royalty, poets, actors, and even famous scientists. Posted by Picasa

London again. . .after having a nice girls weekend in London with my friend Kate, I returned a week later with Robin for more sightseeing. You see, Kate and I mostly shopped and ate, so this time I had to see some sights! Here is the Tower of London Bridge. Posted by Picasa

German Weather, revisited with solution

Whenever I am discussing weather with my German friends, we will always reach a point in the conversation where I am told, “ This is not typical weather.” I have started to believe that this standard of weather that my German friends use to judge as typical is confused by “averaging in vacation weather”. As an example, I have many friends who will spend around half of the month of June in either Mallorca or the Canary Islands where it is 30C. I suggest that the real average June temperature is 10C, and that vacation averaging with the 30C temperature confuses people to believe the average June temperature of Germany should be 20C. All this being said and perhaps even understood the four seasons of Germany are indeed : June, July, August, and Winter. :)
